Hello Regina!
I am so happy to be back in my home province to start the Flatland Fiddling Studio!
Ever since I started pursuing music and fiddling as a career, I knew I wanted to help preserve and grow the fiddle culture in Canada in some way. As a young fiddler, I grew up going to fiddle camps every summer (my favourite time of year), where I would make connections with others and I developed a deep understanding for the instrument and the multitude of subgenres that fiddle music encompasses (Old Time, Celtic, Irish, Scottish, French-Canadian, Métis, Bluegrass, etc).
Now, after years of various streams of education and life experiences, I have reinvented my own lessons studio to be something bigger than I ever thought I could do!
The Flatland Fiddling Studio is a lesson space for all ages of learning, and for all types fiddle music! The core of the studio is its focus on private lessons, personalized for each student and their learning goals, with basic skill building using both contemporary and classical technique. The secondary mission of the studio is to build community through group lessons, jams, workshops, and perhaps even concerts!
I can't wait to see what the first year has in store.
Sincerely,
Emily Dubois
Owner/Educator of the Flatland Fiddling Studio
